State police on Monday released information on a high-speed chase on Dec. 31 that began on Interstate 81 and ended with a near collision on the Central Scranton Expressway and an Archbald man in custody for suspicion of  DUI .

Keith Mancia, 29, of Archbald, sped past a state police cruiser about 12:30 p.m. on I-81 south at mile marker 186.5 and proceeded to jump from lane to lane and drive faster, reaching speeds of 100 mph, after the trooper activated the lights and sirens on his cruiser, according to a news release.

Mr. Mancia took the exit onto the Central Scranton Expressway and continued to speed until he lost control of the car on a curve and slid down an embankment into the expressway’s southbound lanes, just missing another vehicle, according to the release.

The trooper then pulled his cruiser over to Mr. Mancia’s car, commanded him out of the vehicle and took him into custody on suspicion of DUI , according to the release.

Mr. Mancia was then taken to Regional Hospital of Scranton to have blood taken for testing, according to the release.

State police said charges against Mr. Mancia were pending the results of those tests.
