A man who drove his truck through a snowbank and into a fence outside Pauline’s Quick Stop on Vermont 105 in Sheldon at about 8:30 a.m. Sunday stands accused of DUI of alcohol — his alleged third offense, Vermont State Trooper John Bruzzi said.

State Police, following up on a tip from an off-duty U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent, responded to the crash and determined Daniel Chadwick, 58, of Sheldon had a blood alcohol content more than twice the legal limit of .08 percent, Bruzzi said.

Chadwick told police he had two drinks prior to the crash, and had bought beer from the store to bring with him ice fishing, according to the trooper. Police arrested Chadwick and cited him to appear Jan. 30 in Vermont Superior Court in St. Albans on suspicion of DUI .
