BLOOMINGTON -- Police will be on the lookout for DUI drivers who have had too much to drink on Super Bowl Sunday.
"Under Illinois law, there is no right to refuse a blood alcohol test if you have been arrested for DUI," said McLean County State's Attorney Bill Yoder, who announced the "no refusal" weekend.
Police will contact an assistant state's attorney to obtain a search warrant authorizing them to draw blood from anyone arrested for DUI who refuses to submit to a breath test when ordered to do so.
The first "no refusal" was over the Fourth of July weekend. A second was New Year's Eve weekend, in which eight people were arrested.
"The average blood-alcohol content of those arrested over New Year's Eve was .172, or more than double the legal limit," Yoder said in a statement.
In addition to the state's attorney's office, other agencies involved are Illinois State Police, McLean County Sheriff's Department, Normal Police Department, Bloomington Police Department, Illinois State University Police Department and McLean County Coroner's Office
