A deputy struck by a vehicle as he was setting up cones for a DUI checkpoint in Moreno Valley was recovering today, a sheriff's sergeant said.
The deputy was setting up the DUI checkpoint around 10:30 p.m. Thursday on Alessandro Boulevard west of Covey Quail Lane when he was struck, said Sgt. Don Goodrich of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
The driver of the vehicle stopped nearby and was contacted by other deputies, Goodrich said.
The deputy was taken to Riverside County Regional Medical Center for treatment, and he is expected to recover, according to Goodrich.
