LAKEWOOD - 9news.com reported. Police say witness descriptions of a vehicle involved in a deadly hit and run wreck Monday night helped lead to an arrest shortly after the DUI crash.
DUI investigators say a white Ford van heading north on Harlan Street hit a pedestrian at Alameda Avenue, and then the driver left the scene before police arrived.
The victim has been identified as Raymond Rivera, 48, from Denver.
Witnesses were able to provide police with a description of the vehicle, which police say they were able to track down a short time later on 3rd Avenue west of Sheridan Boulevard.
Police believe the driver of the hit-and-run vehicle as Thomas William Boyle, 48.
Officers on the scene suspected alcohol was a contributing factor in the DUI crash. However, toxicology results are pending.
Boyle was arrested and booked on charges of vehicular homicide, felony hit-and-run, DUI and careless driving. Further charges may be pending.
A date for Boyle's first court appearance in Jefferson County Court hasn't been announced.
